ABSTRACT

This research, from the perspective of solving the environment related issues, with respect to the field of Information Communication Technology (ICT), seeks to give a general overview of how cloud computing in developing economies is slowly being adapted yet but widely ignored, and the advantages to be gained if many organizations in these economies moves on to cloud computing technologies to save the energy, environment and reduce the effects of climate change.
Developing countries play a huge role in the carbon emissions into our atmosphere. According to the Center for Global Development, developing countries are responsible for 63 percent of current carbon emissions. ICT resources are big consumers of energy, this results in energy deficiency and as a whole leads to climate change. ICT contributes 2% to carbon dioxide emissions.
Hence, to solve this global problem, it is important not to ignore the minor contributors such as ICT. Green cloud computing, an efficient method of solving climate change, places emphasis on delivering efficient power management, virtualization of servers, recycling methods, environment sustainability design, design of data centers, eco-labeling, efficient coding methodologies, energy efficient resources and many more.
